Virtual Vacation at Le Taha’a in Tahiti

There are 3 ways that I hope you will use this blog–as a source of gorgeous design ideas from the world’s coolest boutique hotels, as a travel guide for finding chic hotels and under-the-radar properties, or as just a place to dream of exotic destinations and have a little virtual vacation in the middle of a hectic day. Here in NYC enduring a sudden cold snap and not allowed to fly thanks to a baby on the way, I’m definitely dreaming of far flung locales  and Le Taha’a in Tahiti is a definite dream destination.

Le Taha’a is a small 60-suite resort on the islet of Moto Tautau of of Tahaa island, and is one of the more remote destinations in the Tahitian islands. It is just a stone’s throw from Bora Bora so you could combine both destinations into one dream trip.

45 of the suites are over the water bungalows where room service arrives by canoe.

Each of the thatched roof suites is a roomy 300 square feet and is crafted from local materials, including bamboo and exotic hardwoods. Love the tub above.

The 10 1-bedroom beach villas feature private plunge pools and gardens, and open onto the white sand beaches.

The pool meets the beach

The hotel was designed with green principals in mind–each structure was built around existing vegetation with minimal damage to trees, gardening is chemical free, ie-seaweed for fertilizer, and there are no cars or shuttles driving guests around the property to keep the air as clean as possible.

The hotel has several private white sand beaches and turquoise waters.

Happy Travels!
