Virtual Vacation at the Oberoi in Mauritius

One of my closest friends just took a job in Mauritius and from the pictures I’ve seen, the idyllic island in the Indian Ocean is heaven on earth. Talk about a dream gig! The island boasts several amazing resorts, including a new St. Regis which will be unveiled this fall, and the beautiful Oberoi resort shown above.

Thai architect Lek Bunnag designed the Oberoi’s charming palm thatched villas to reflect the island’s native architecture.

The boutique hotel property offers 72 rooms, most with private pools. Love the 4 poster beds with the rustic headboards.

Sometimes high end beachfront resorts have interiors that are too posh for the beach. After all, if you’re doing it right you should be trekking in from the sand and sea so you don’t want spaces that feel too pristine. Except for the rug, this living area perfectly straddles the line between glam and beachy.

The Oberoi is nestled in 20 acres of gardens set along the Turtle Bay on the Northwest coast of the island. Beach front villas above.

Torches light the end of the infinity pool.

Happy travels (virtual and otherwise!)
