Thanks to World Cup fever all eyes are on Brazil. In a country known for its obsession with beauty, it’s no surprise that you will find some of the most unique and innovative spa treatments in the world. I just wrote a piece for Yahoo Beauty on the country’s amazing spa-hotels. One of the most intriguing hotels on the list is UXUA. 11 former fishermen’s cottages in the sleepy village of Trancoso have been transformed into a favorite escape for the fashion set (owner Wilbert Das is the former creative director of Diesel). At the spa, Das teamed up with native Pataxó Indians to incorporate their expertise on local rainforest plants into the spa’s products and treatments. The design is equally interesting pulling together local art and furniture for a laid-back boho-chic vibe. Check out pics below of the dreamy beach escape:
The guest rooms are restored 1 to 3-bedroom former fisherman’s cottages. Love how colorful and cool they are.
The owner Wilbert Das designed the interiors working with local artisans using traditional Brazilian building techniques, reclaimed and organic materials, and Brazilian antiques and art.
All Casitas have full kitchens, private gardens, indoor / outdoor living rooms, and a few boast private plunge pools.
