Designed by India Mahdavi, the Hotel Thoumieux in Paris is sort of a design junkies version of Alice-in-Wonderland. The 15-room hotel is a happy riot of bright colors and cool patterns, paired with whimsical furniture.Compared to the posh, grand hotels in Paris, I love that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. I did a Get the Look post last year that includes the Lotus Wallpaper from Farrow & Ball and Mahdavi’s fantastic and hard-to-find Julia Marie Chair. Since then, the Hotel has launched an E-shop with goodies like their black tea and ginger candle created with Ramdane Touhami, and chef Jean-François Piège’s cookbook with signature dishes from the Brasserie Thoumieux. The coolest offerings are the Chance plates designed by Mahdavi exclusively for the hotel and created by Bernardaud. Available in pale green, yellow, gray, and white, they are a modern take on the four-leaf clover, the symbol and lucky charm of the Restaurant Jean-François Piège. Definitely a little bit of the Thoumieux‘s playful brand of cool to bring back home.
