If you’re in NYC this week, definitely head down to the Bleecker Street Arts Club to check out model and photographer Helena Christensen’s new exhibit Visual Journal Peru.  Helena, who is half Peruvian and half Scottish, returned to explore Peru last year with her mother. She visited the coastal town of Paracas, the historic town of Cusco and the lush and sweeping Sacred Valley. The trip and photographs coincide with her appointment as a Global Explorer for Starwood’s Luxury Collection (she’s the brand ambassador and the places she visited also have Luxury Collection hotels). Helena’s photographs beautifully captures the country’s haunting, rugged landscape, and her portraits of Peruvians that she met on her journey are equally striking. If you love the images as much as I do, or are a collector of travel photography, you’re in luck. The pictures are on sale at Gavel & Grand through February 17th.  All the proceeds benefit Oxfam.
