Looking for a new color palette for a living space? Take cues from the Rachel Reider designed The Merchant (one of the design-centric Lark Hotels group). At the inn in Salem, Massachusetts, a tufted cranberry velvet sofa pops against lacquered peacock blue walls. A pair of barrel chairs feature a green, yellow, and blue abstract print that work seamlessly with the wall color. A seagrass rug and white and gold coffee table provide neutral accents to temper the bold hues. Note that yellow and orange would have the same pop against the walls as the red does here. It’s definitely an unexpected and vibrant palette that could work to enliven a living room, TV room, or library.
