Virtual Vacation at the Borgo Santo Pietro

They had me at Buon Giorno.

The moment I saw images of the Borgo Santo Pietro hotel in Italy,  I fell in love at first pic. The exterior, the interior, the gardens, the cyprus trees, even the dogs! It is all so gorgeous.

When the owner Jeanette Thottrup and her husband Claus purchased the c. 1218 structure, it was a ruin filled with bats. They spent 7 years meticulously restoring the property, opening the hotel in 2008.

Beautifully weathered and ornate Italian and French antiques give the interiors a sense of history. Chandeliers dripping with crystals, long heavy silk drapes, paired with elegantly faded rugs all feel as if they’ve been a part of the house for years.

Jeanette is originally from Denmark and worked for years in fashion in London. She did the interiors for the Borgo’s 11 rooms making every detail romantic and elegant. The stunning interiors make you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time.

The paintings and wall murals are all new, but made to look old.

Even the bathrooms are spectacular….

I love the contrast between the modern wicker furniture and old world sensibility of the property.

Under the Tuscan sun

The hotel is located in the hilltop town of Chiusdino in Tuscany.
